Coop Youth Parliament, the youth arm of MASS-SPECC, conducted a “COOP YOUTH PROGRAM PLANNING” on 4-5 February 2017 at MCHS Function Room, MASS-SPECC Building, Cagayan de Oro City.

The program planning was participated in by youth leaders and youth program coordinators of Paglaum MPC, Tagum Cooperative, Panabo MPC, Toril MPC, Maramag Community Coop, Kauyagan Savers MPC, MSU IIT NMPC, Gata Daku MPC, Ozamis City Peoples’ Coop, Mambajao Credit Cooperative, Oro Integrated Cooperative and AIM Coop.

The objectives of the planning were: (1) to orient cooperatives with youth program about Coop Youth Parliament; (2) to plan the Coop Youth Parliament 2017 activities; and (3) to assist these cooperatives in planning their youth activities for year 2017.

Major plans for year 2017 are: (1) conduct 6 regional localized sessions on Fundamentals of Cooperative for the youth and 90 youth leaders; (2) develop modules that will help enhance the leadership skills, personal development, organizational structure & functions and team synchronization skills of the youth leaders in order to prepare the successor generation; (3) propose structural change, inclusion of youth committee or youth BOD in the coop governance structure; and (4) data gathering on the status of the youth program in the coops in order to identify what trainings are necessary.
