Four trainers of MASS SPECC participated in the trainers’ training conducted by the Finance Dualized Education (FDE) on February 22-25, 2017 in Cagayan de Oro City. They were joined by other trainers from microfinance institutions – Ahon Sa Hirap Inc. (ASHI), Mindanao Microfinance Council, and People’s Bank of Caraga.
FDE is a Philippine-German technical cooperation project in support of the K+12 basic education program of the Philippines. It aims to increase the employability of the youth coming out of senior high school and meet the needs of Philippine industries for qualified staff. It is financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development in cooperation with six German industry associations and their counterparts in the Philippines.
The finance component of the project is managed by the Savings Bank Foundation for International Cooperation in partnership with financial institutions in the Philippines. MASS SPECC is FDE’s partner in Mindanao and will implement dualized education in cooperatives. As implementers of the project, cooperatives will partner with local schools in training senior high school students while working, using NC-based learning materials to be supplied by the project. Successful students will graduate from senior high with NC II certification from TESDA.
MASS SPECC trainers who attended the FDE training were: Karen Cruz, Jhenebeth Rejas, Laurine Alexis Yonson, and Doris Perez.
