A group of coop leaders selected from the regional Ownership Meetings and management staff of MASS SPECC met on January 12 – 14, 2017 to deliberate on the results of the Ownership Meetings (OM) in November 2016. Called the “think tank,” the group transformed the OM results into actionable agenda for further action at the next Ownership Meetings in April 2017.
The OM discussions centered on the Blueprint for a Cooperative Decade issued by the International Cooperative Alliance, calling cooperatives around the world to be the model preferred by people, to be the fastest growing form of enterprise, and to be the acknowledged leader in economic, social, and environmental sustainability. The OM delegates translated ICA’s call to action into the local (Philippine) situation.
From the OM results, the think tank articulated the aspirations and directions of the cooperative movement in Mindanao, as well as the goals that should be pursued by cooperatives under the umbrella of MASS SPECC.
