MASS-SPECC Partners with MEDEXPRESS to Expand Healthcare Access
MASS-SPECC solidified its dedication to enhancing member co-operatives’ well-being by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with MEDEXPRESS on November 22, 2024. This strategic partnership, a cornerstone of MASS-SPECC’s Yaman ang Kalusugan Program (YAKAP), underscores the federation’s mission to provide affordable, high-quality medicines and medical supplies to co-operatives and their members.
The ceremonial signing took place at the Unilab Main Office in Mandaluyong City. Representing MEDEXPRESS was its President, Dr. Joel Javier, alongside key executives from Unilab. MASS-SPECC was represented by its Board of Directors Chairperson, Doris B. Calapiz, and Chief Executive Officer, Bernadette O. Toledo, CPA. This collaboration reflects a shared dedication to improving healthcare access for communities within the co-operative network.
“The partnership with MEDEXPRESS is a transformative step toward achieving MASS-SPECC’s vision of holistic member empowerment under the YAKAP Program,” Toledo shared.
“By ensuring affordable and accessible quality healthcare for our member cooperatives, this collaboration strengthens our commitment to uplifting lives and enhancing community well-being. Integrating MEDEXPRESS’s innovative solutions with our Pinoy Coop Mobile platform exemplifies our drive for digital transformation, creating a seamless and inclusive system that addresses the health needs of cooperatives across Mindanao. This partnership is not just about providing medicine—it’s about creating a healthier and more resilient cooperative ecosystem for the future.”
Through its partnership with MEDEXPRESS, MASS-SPECC enhances YAKAP’s ability to meet the growing demand for reliable and affordable healthcare solutions. This initiative empowers co-operatives to access essential medical resources more effectively and efficiently, upholding the co-operative principle of Concern for the Community.
“This partnership offers member-cooperatives unparalleled access to affordable, high-quality medicines and medical supplies, supported by a robust credit line facility tailored to their needs,” Toledo explained.
“Through a wide array of ordering options and streamlined services, cooperatives can efficiently address the health concerns of their members and employees. Beyond convenience, MEDEXPRESS’s health and wellness programs and marketing support empower cooperatives to champion healthcare in their communities. At its core, this collaboration is a catalyst for change—improving health outcomes, reducing financial strain, and fostering stronger, more united communities. By addressing one of the most pressing needs of our members, we are not just improving lives; we are solidifying the role of cooperatives as drivers of meaningful progress in society.“
This partnership, branded as YAKAP II to distinguish it from YAKAP I, MASS-SPECC’s group medical insurance with Paramountcare, reinforces MASS-SPECC’s holistic approach to healthcare solutions. Furthermore, it contributes to the realization of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal on Health and Wellness, emphasizing the broader impact of this collaboration.
Through this strengthened healthcare initiative, MASS-SPECC remains steadfast in its mission to promote community well-being in line with co-operative values.
